Read some of the FAQs listed for a brief idea on how chiropractic treatment can help relieve you from constant physical pain.
Q. What is chiropractic?
A. Chiropractic is based on the evidence that with a normally functioning spine and nerves, the body is better able to heal itself. Chiropractic treats not just the symptoms, but the underlying cause of physical problems. The aim is to restore and maintain the health of the complete body and not just treat the isolated symptoms.
Q. How will chiropractic help me?
A. Our doctors at Methuen Family Chiropractic will look at your overall health and focus not only on your area of complaint, but also on your lifestyle. This integrated approach is used to determine the best possible treatment for your individual condition. Our ultimate goal is to achieve both pain relief from your condition while restoring and maintaining optimal function and well-being.
Q. Is the process of chiropractic painful?
A. No. Our first objective is relief from pain. Once we achieve this, we turn to restoring function, which is the ability to perform every day and work activities. The key to long-term pain relief is improving function.
Q. Do I need to consult with my M.D. first?
A. No. Our doctors will perform a detailed history and physical exam to determine your diagnosis and individualized treatment plan. We will consult other medical specialists about your condition whenever required. Our chiropractors come with the following training experience:

Q. What if I don't have insurance?
A. It’s fine if you don’t. We provide affordable cash / self-pay fees to allow you access to the care that is required.
Q. Is chiropractic helpful for children and pregnant women?
A. Yes, absolutely. At times, children and pregnant women have specific issues that respond very well to chiropractic care. Children are most often treated for sports injuries, growing pains, frequent colds, and ear infections that are caused as a result of a compromised immune system along with scoliosis and poor posture. Pregnant women can suffer from back pain and sciatica (leg pain). All women under chiropractic care during pregnancy tend to have easier deliveries. It can be said that chiropractic is safe and effective for children and pregnant women.
Q. Can chiropractic help older patients with arthritis?
A. Yes, it can. As we start aging, our quality of life including vitality, strength, endurance, and balance become all the more essential. The years of stress or overuse can cause your spine to degenerate or wear-out. Our doctors are trained in treating these degenerative conditions to improve the health of your spine. This is done by restoring motion and nutrition to joints. It is known that joints that have good motion are not painful, but perform better, and are less likely to be injured or degenerate.
Q What do you mean by an adjustment?
A. Sometimes, chiropractors use controlled forces called “adjustments” when there are restrictions around joints that the body is not able to overcome on its own. Such barriers include muscle spasm, swelling, scar tissue, and pain. The controlled force of adjustment safely generates the energy needed to overcome such restrictions and move a joint back to its full range of motion. There are also other therapies that are often incorporated with the adjustment, namely ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, low-level (cold) laser, heat and cold packs, and traction.
